吉林大学刘堃团队报道了自由基聚合诱导聚合物链在纳米铝颗粒上接枝。相关研究成果于2024年8月26日发表于国际顶尖学术期刊《中国化学》。

铝纳米粒子(Al-NPs)因其独特的LSPR特性而在各个领域具有巨大的潜在应用。在控制Al-NPs的尺寸和形态方面取得了重大进展。然而,聚合物对Al-NPs的有效改性尚未实现。

该文中,研究人员报告了一种简单有效的自由基聚合诱导接枝(FRPIGt)方法,用于将聚合物链接枝到Al-NPs上。通过优化聚合条件,能够获得重量损失率高达43.3%的聚合物刷层,这高于其他具有羧基或伯胺端基的聚合物。

此外,使用FRPIGt方法可以应用广泛的乙烯基单体,包括苯乙烯、甲基丙烯酸酯和甲基丙烯酸甲酯,以改性Al-NPs。此外,FRPIGt方法可以扩展到光诱导有机催化原子转移自由基聚合。

Title: Free-Radical Polymerization Induced Grafting-to of Polymer Chains onto Aluminum Nanoparticles †

Abstract: Aluminum nanoparticles (Al NPs) have significant potential applications in various fields due to their unique LSPR. Significant advancements have been achieved in controlling the size and morphology of Al NPs. However, the efficient modification of Al NPs with polymers has not been implemented. Herein, we report a facile and efficient free-radical polymerization induced grafting-to (FRPIGt) method for grafting polymer chains onto Al NPs. By optimizing polymerization conditions, we were able to achieve a polymer brush layer with a weight loss fraction of up to 43.3%, which was higher than those of other polymers with carboxyl or primary amine end groups. Moreover, a broad range of vinyl monomers, including styrene, methacrylate, and methyl methacrylate, can be applied using the FRPIGt method to modify Al NPs. In addition, the FRPIGt method can be extended to photoinduced organocatalyzed atom-transfer-radical polymerization. This work paves a new path for the preparation of a wide range of polymer-functionalized Al NPs and their polymer composites to be utilized in various fields.
